Introduction to Rep. Ryan
So Rep. Paul Ryan was selected as Mitt Romney’s running mate this past Saturday. Who is Paul Ryan?. Let me begin with this video of him taking down Barack Obama and his health care plan:
That video definitely got me a little bit excited about Paul Ryan becoming the next VP. Let’s look a little more into the guy.
How conservative is he?
In my last post I showed you how to find out how “conservative” your elected representatives are, well let’s check in on Rep. Ryan: http://heritageactionscorecard.com/scorecard/index.html#R000570#member . He received a 75%, which isn’t amazing, although it is 10%points higher than the house republican average. 75% isn’t terrible, it just means, if elected, we’ll have to hold him to higher conservative standards when in office.
The Decision
Here’s a very interesting article about the secretive decision to choose Paul Ryan as the VP candidate. From sneaking through the woods in his backyard to extensive background checks, the journey to become the Republican VP candidate seemed quite adventurous.
Conclusion
So was Paul Ryan a good pick for VP candidate? Who knows. We’ll have to wait and see if they get elected in November AND then 4yrs later to find out how well they do.
The key is, the cards have been dealt. We now to have to use what we have to defeat President Barack Obama in November AND then hold our next leaders accountable.
