Mitt Romney will be hosted a rally today (Thursday, September 13th) in Fairfax, VA. The official event page is right here on Romney’s website. Doors opened at 9AM and the event started around 11:30AM. I was there to report everything back to you!
REPORT #1 Short Summary : I’m back from the rally! Mitt Romney gave an inspiring and informative speech to his supporters today at Van Dyck Park in Fairfax, VA. He had a very impressive crowd especially considering today is a workday and the event took place right in the middle of the day. I felt the energy and in my very bias opinion I think these supporters were more excited than the supporters at Obama’s event in Leesburg that I covered.
REPORT #2: HECKLER PREVENTS ROMNEY MOMENT OF SILENCE DURING SPEECH – While Mitt Romney was talking about foreign policy and the events in Libya, an attendee heckled Romney as he was about to hold a moment of silence in honor of those whose lives were lost. The crowd immediately drowned out the noise coming from the hecklers by chanting “USA USA USA…”. Romney responded to the actions by saying, “I would offer a moment of silence, but one gentleman doesn’t want to be silence, so we’re going to keep on going…” I’ve heard various reports mentioning the hecklers said something along the lines of “Stop politicizing Libya!”, but I did not hear it myself. The photo to the right is of the hecklers one of my colleagues took. More updates to come……
